The Moon is an extremely important object in Solar System Astronomy. Its surface retains features that tell us about the Solar System's early history. When you look at the surface of the Moon with a telescope, you are looking at a landscape that has changed very little over the past 3 billion years.

Your lab group will be supplied with a 6-inch or 8-inch Celestron Telescope, an Orion 90mm Telescope, or similar for observing the Moon. Keep in mind that the image may be flipped left to right and/or up to down depending on the optics of the telescope (mirrors, lenses).
