Virgo I Cluster is host to 1500 galaxies. It is a massive cluster that spans 8 degrees in the constellation of Virgo. The center galaxy in the cluster is M87. It is at RA=12h 30m Dec= 12 deg. It is approximately 52 million light years away and is the center of the Laniakea Supercluster in the cluster Virgo. The Virgo I Cluster is not to be confused with the designation for the large cluster of galaxies named Virgo that makes up our cosmic address and includes the Local Group. The images below are HST images available on NED and NASA’s space telescope website.
